The first stop was Kyiv. Instructor course was held on April 15-17, 2024 at Bogomolets National Medical University.
In the second half of April, 2024 HUH in collaboration with the Ukrainian Society of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care and local healthcare leaders held 3-day Ultrasound Instructor Courses in Kyiv, Dnipro, and Lviv. Thirty-three new instructors in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) received advanced tools and knowhow in running POCUS workshops and rapidly spreading vital skills across...
24 and 25 January we are teaching additional 15 doctors. I sincerely thank Dr. Dariya Kristafor from the Dnipro State Medical University for the excellent translation of all the lectures.
Captain VB diagnosed a hemo-pneumothorax in this soldier using ultrasonography which he learned in an HUH, Inc. workshop in Dnipro in 2023. This patient now has a chest tube draining the blood and air from his pleural space and was safely evacuated from the stabilization point to a hospital for further treatment.
Increasing the skill of our Ukrainian colleagues on this mobile technology makes them more nimble in an austere clinical setting, and allows them to accurately diagnose serious illness sooner. Since PoCUS is often a novel practice for Ukrainian doctors, we remain available to them after their workshop for remote training and support. This intervention is...
22 and 23 January we are teaching 15 doctors. Anesthesiology interns (residents) are helping us as volunteer models to practice ultrasonography. These photos show Drs. Olha Kitsnak and Zorayana Mashtaler teaching POCUS to anesthesiologists at the Regional Clinical Hospital in Ivano-Frankivsk. The Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine is led by Professor Ivan Ivanovych...
Professor Stevens with a colleague from the Ukrainian Army Medical Service and Anton Kovyriev, Vice President of HUH, Inc.
Teaching bedside ultrasonography at the Dnipro University Hospital and the Regional Clinical Hospital in Ivano-Frankivsk. Almost all of the instruction is now taught in the Ukrainian language by Ukrainian specialists in anesthesiology and intensive care medicine.
Many doctors attending our workshops apply the knowledge learned almost immediately after the courses while serving at the front. [January, 2024]
Direct dialog between professionals in their field often leads to good outcomes. Prof. Stevens discusses medical training relative to military medicine with a Ukrainian medical officer responsible for staffing the stabilization points at the front.
