Help Ukrainian Hospitals at the MedGlobal Conference in Chicago: Strengthening Diaspora Connections

Our Vice President, Anton Kovyriev, represented Help Ukrainian Hospitals at the MedGlobal conference in Chicago building new relationships with the Ukrainian diaspora and fellow humanitarian leaders to expand medical education support for Ukraine.

Chicago, Illinois October 24, 2025 Help Ukrainian Hospitals (HUH) participated in the MedGlobal conference in Chicago, where HUH Vice President Anton Kovyriev engaged with humanitarian leaders, clinicians, and community advocates and most importantly, strengthened connections with the Ukrainian diaspora.

Events like MedGlobal are more than conferences. They bring together people who are actively solving real problems in crisis medicine and global health. For HUH, this is an opportunity to connect our mission Medical Education for Ukraine with partners and supporters who can help scale training and deliver targeted tools that make education actionable at the bedside.

What we focused on in Chicago

During the conference, Anton met with members of the Ukrainian community and allied organizations to discuss:

  • Expanding support for medical education programs for Ukrainian clinicians
  • Identifying collaboration opportunities with diaspora-led initiatives
  • Sharing HUH’s focus on practical training (including critical care and point-of-care ultrasound)
  • Building relationships that support sustainable, long-term impact

Why diaspora connections matter

The Ukrainian diaspora plays a vital role in mobilizing resources, connecting experts, and maintaining long-term support. These relationships help ensure our training efforts stay responsive to real needs on the ground and can continue beyond one-time shipments or short-term initiatives.

What’s next

Follow-up conversations from Chicago are already underway, and we’re exploring new ways to:

  • Connect volunteer educators with Ukrainian clinicians and institutions
  • Expand sponsor support for workshops and equipment
  • Strengthen coordination with mission-aligned humanitarian networks

Thank you to everyone who took time to meet, share ideas, and help build the partnerships Ukraine’s healthcare workers deserve.
